Pioneer has recently released a new firmware update for its DDJ-SR DJ controller, namely version 1.06, which fixes an issue where the Key Lock function might be turned on and off unintentionally.

If you intend to make use of this modification, download the new update, extract the archive to an accessible location, and make sure you have the latest Java Runtime Environment and ASIO driver installed on your PC,.

Afterwards, turn off the DDJ-SR and disconnect all cables from the unit, and close all applications on your computer that might interfere with the installation prior to running the update procedure.

Now, connect the PC and DJ controller via USB cable and turn the mixer on while pressing “Shift” and “Sync” buttons. The LEDs from the level meter should start flashing in a short while. When that happens, you can release the keys.

Run the “jar” file you've recently extracted and follow the on-screen steps for a complete and successful upgrade. Also, while installation, do not make use of the controller’s buttons, power off the unit or remove any of its cable, or interrupt the process in any way; doing so can cause serious malfunctions.

That being said, to install the new update, download the Pioneer DDJ-SR DJ controller firmware 1.06, follow all instructions highlighted above, and enjoy the changes this release brings about.
