14 DAY TRIAL // Having already unveiled its latest headphones, Pioneer has issued a press release to announce the availability of a number of new music and home theater speakers, namely the bookshelf SP-BS21-LR, SP-BS41-LR, the floorstanding SP-FS51-LR, the center channel SP-C21 and the SW-8 subwoofer.
Since Pioneer first made itself known through its stereo equipment and speakers, it is no surprise that it would unleash a new range of such electronics.
The speakers and subwoofer listed above are all entry-level units that seek to appeal to the more budget-conscious consumers, thanks to their low prices.
The entire line makes use of radio frequency bonded, curved cabinets with better sound reproduction thanks to the reduced cabinet resonance.
They also use a so-called sophisticated multi-component crossover, despite the fact that entry-level speakers usually sacrifice this components or use a lower-quality one.
This crossover improves the accuracy of frequency division and re-creates sounds more precisely.
“Pioneer began manufacturing speakers more than 70 years ago,” said Russ Johnston, executive vice president of home entertainment and business solutions groups at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.
“Since then, we’ve built upon decades of engineering experience and passion to craft this new line of high quality speakers that deliver high performance and exceptional quality for both music and movie sources at an attractive price point,” he added.

As for pricing, the SW-8 subwoofer (with a 100W internal amp) costs $149.99, while the bookshelf SP-BS21-LR and SP-BS41-LR are priced at $89.99 and $199.99 respectively. Finally, the center channel SP-C21 and floor standing SP-FS51-LR sell for $199.99 and $89.99, respectively.
