After all the news surrounding old and new tablets that did or didn't sell well, Pioneer Computers decided to come out and unleash one more slate, only this time focusing on making it cheap.

The one big disadvantage of Android tablets is that they are quite a bit more expensive than the Apple iPad.

This goes especially for those models powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 platform and equipped with ambitious memory and storage capacities.

Of course, companies involved definitely seek to drive prices low enough for consumers to be interested, or at least more interested than they are now.

The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer seemed like it was popular, selling out in minutes, until it was revealed that short supply was really to blame.

Pioneer Computer has now delivered the DreamBook ePad 10 Plus, although only pre-order can be set, for the time being.

It is built around an ARM11 processor, whose clock speed is 1 GHz and which is complemented by 512 MB of RAM (random access memory).

The 10-inch display has a native resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels, meaning that high-quality media will be possible to fully enjoy only when streamed to a monitor or HDTV, via HDMI.

The product also boasts 4 GB of NAND Flash storage, plus an USB port, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, a G-sensor, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and a 3800 mAh battery (up to 4 hours of operation).

All these are packed inside a frame measuring 272 (L) x 170 (W) x 10 (H) mm and weighing 700 grams. Android 2.2 is the operating system loaded onto it.

Prospective purchasers need only visit the official product page that Pioneer Computers put up on its website, although they will have to be willing to part with the sum of 299 AUD, which corresponds to roughly 327 USD.
