People over at pioneer decided that it was about time to shake things a little bit and announced the release of no less than four new models, three of which (BDP-LX08, BDP-LX71 and BDP-51FD) are compliant with the BonusView / Profile 1.1 specification, while the fourth (BDP-LX91) actually supports the latest development in this particular field, namely BD-Live / Profile 2.0.

According to the company's statement, the four new Blu-ray players incorporate some of the most advanced technical features available on the market, including HDMI connectivity and advanced video processing. They also support 1080p, 24 frames per second (fps) reproduction rate, which means that users will be a lot closer to a true cinematic experience.

Moreover, the design of the Blu-ray players matches that of Pioneer's other equipment so that the users' entertainment centers will have a very seamless and attractive design.

Nevertheless, besides providing high-quality images, the new Pioneer Blu-ray players behave quite well in the audio field too, as they support the lossless digital audio formats DTS HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD. The players also pack professional-quality Wolfson Digital Audio Converters (DACs) and deliver high-fidelity audio on no less than 7 channels.

Much in the same way as most of the other major manufacturers of A/V equipment, the engineers from Pioneer have developed an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) with the same look and feel as found on the KURO Plasma TVs and latest A/V receivers. Additionally, the built-in KURO LINK feature allows users to control the devices with the remote of your KURO plasma TV.

As we should have expected, there's no info on the moment when these Pioneer Blu-ray players will arrive in stores or on just how much we'll have to save in order to get one of these things, but don't worry: they're not likely to hit the shelves earlier than this fall (Q4 is our best bet).

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
