Pinterest Hits 30-Billion-Pin Mark
Pinterest's popularity has spiked over the past year
Pinterest has 30 billion pins, 50 percent more than it had 6 months ago, announced the company’s CEO Ben Silbermann.According to TechCrunch, in the same timespan, more than 750 million boards were created by users, indicating a big growth spike.
The company’s CEO says that the growth can be explained in part by the introduction of Related Pins last year. Over 90 percent of Pins are now connected to such content, which means that it’s easier to just jump from one page to the other while still checking out similar content. In fact, the number of people who choose to repin content they find in this manner has grown by 20 percent.
The extensions brought to the platform recently, such as the ability to add full recipes to food-related pins, have also aided to the increased attractiveness of the platform.
Pinterest says that during the entire month of March, 75 percent of traffic came from native mobile apps, which is quite an impressive share of activity for Pinterest’s mobile tool. A previous announcement indicated that mobile traffic grew by 50 percent in 2013.
Pinterest has some 70 million users in the entire world, most of which are women.
