This Sunday, January 31, 2010, the Grammy Awards will take place, celebrating the best of the best the music industry had to offer in 2009. The strongest competitors of the night are, as we also told you, Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga. Of the three, Pink is rooting for Lady Gaga as being the most representative for the past year, she says in a new interview for Rolling Stone.

Gaga and Beyonce are going neck and neck in two of the major categories, namely for Record of the Year and Album of the Year. In both, Pink thinks Gaga will win by a long shot because she best represents the spirit of 2009, though she would like to see Beyonce take home one award of the two for purely personal reasons, since Pink is one of her many loyal fans.

“I think I’d have to go with Lady Gaga because she really, really just took over this year,” Pink says of Gaga’s chances of winning Album of the Year with “The Fame.” “She was everywhere. She’s fearless when it comes to fashion and videos and I think a lot of other people play it really safe. I think she’s been a total breath of fresh air. I love her videos. In some ways I think she’s the most interesting without seeming to try to hard since Madonna. […] I think she’s marching to the beat of her own drum. And I really, really like that,” she says.

However, that’s not to say no one is rooting for Beyonce: Questlove of The Roots does, as he loves her music just as much as he loves Gaga’s originality. “The post-Kanye pity thing is about to end this year, so Taylor Swift will have to stand on her own two legs. But you can’t ignore Lady Gaga’s power and that she was so ubiquitous this year and influential, in song and image. Of course, Beyonce is my favorite. I’d actually give ‘Single Ladies’ the Record of the Year. It would be nice to see her get it for sentimental reasons, but I’m gonna go against my sentimental heart and give it to Lady Gaga. Her record captured the mood of 2009,” Questlove explains for the same publication.

As also noted above, the 2010 Grammy Awards will take place tomorrow night. Beyonce is the favorite of the night with 10 nominations, Taylor Swift follows suit with 8, while Gaga has 5, 3 of which are in the same categories as Beyonce. To see who won, stay tuned here.
