Pink and Carey Hart welcomed daughter Willow Sage into the world some weeks ago but, as of now, only grainy photos of her have been available. The singer has agreed to pose for the traditional celebrity baby pics, donating the money to charity and firing off an open letter against the paparazzi.

As she explains in a lengthy post on her official website, Pink and Carey are sick and tired of being chased down by paparazzi, who are desperate to be the first to snap Willow’s picture.

Not only are they constantly hounded by the paps, but they also believe that they have the right to show Willow’s face only when they deem it necessary: whereas they as celebrities can choose to lead a celebrity’s life, children have no saying in this.

So, in a bid to put an end to this rush for the baby’s first photos, Pink and Carey are one step ahead of the paparazzi – and they’re realizing them themselves.

“Due to the unsettling, surprisingly aggressive and unsafe measures that the paparazzi seem to be willing to go to in order to secure that ‘first shot’ of our daughter – stalking us, chasing us in cars and sitting outside of our home all day and all night, as new parents Carey and I decided that we would release personal photos of our Willow, and donate all of the money to charity,” Pink writes on her website.

She says the money they got from the pics will go to their favorite charities, the Ronald McDonald House and Autism Speaks.

This out of the way, Pink also goes in attack mode, blasting those photographers who do all of the above for a child’s photo, as well as all those who buy the magazine in which the pictures are published because, this way, they’re encouraging this practice.

“Like any parents, we believe our little girl deserves the right to have privacy and be protected, but unfortunately, this media climate doesn’t seem to provide for that. […] We recognize that celebrity has its upsides and downsides and do our best to manage just being people without hiring stylists and bodyguards before one of us goes to the store to buy some milk,” Pink writes.

“But you see, it’s one thing to harass and stalk us, the adults, the celebrity that signed up for this life, but children should be protected and safe. There should be a clear distinction between us,” she underlines.
