The artist says her performance will be “extra special”

With this year's MTV Video Music Awards just around the corner (the 6th of September, for those of you who've forgotten), it comes as no surprise that news about this musical event are beginning to virtually pour in. This time, it's all about who will be performing.

Official sources say that, apart from Alicia Keys and One Direction, Pink has also been chosen to sing at said event, something which overjoys the artists seeing how, when she was just a kid, her mum wouldn't let her even watch the VMAs.

“Being a part of the VMAs for me is extra special because my mom never let me used to watch MTV as a little girl,” said Pink in one of her latest interviews.

However, being the rebel that we know she is, “I would watch it anyway but she would also try and ground me but then I would just sneak out my window and go to someone's house that had MTV. So to be on MTV is quite ironic.”

Apparently, the “solemnity” of the occasion determined Pink to debut one of the songs on her new album ('The Truth About Love'), rather than just recycle one of her older hits, reports The Daily Star.

In spite of this being the third time that the artist performs for the MTV VMAs, Pink seems to not have lost her enthusiasm with respect to the event and what it stands for.

“It's always one of the more enjoyable shows because it's relaxed and it's kind of rock 'n' roll and unpredictable and everyone is having a good time,” she told members of the press.

MTV is expected to announce more VMA performers in the following days, so stay tuned for more information.

Until then, here's Pink's latest video, "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)," which, as you probably already know, is presently climbing the charts and stands to become her 12th top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
