The Pinguy development team has just announced that Pinguy OS 13.04 Beta is now available for download.

Pinguy OS 13.04 Beta is based on Ubuntu 13.04 and, despite the name, it’s considered a stable release.

"The 6 month Pinguy OS releases will be missing features that will be in the final LTS, but the release will be very usable. The goal of the 6 month releases is to help give users insight and influence on where Pinguy OS is heading and help shape the LTS release," reads the official announcement.

Highlights of Pinguy OS 13.04 Beta:

• Linux kernel was updated to version 3.8.0, just like Ubuntu 13.04; • GNOME was updated to version 3.8.0; • LibreOffice has been updated to version 4.0.2; • A lot more applications have been added.

A complete list of changes and improvements can be found in the official announcement.
