Technology is not only about form and function. It can very well be about bad taste and bling covered devices. The recipe is simple, just take any piece of technology that strikes your fancy and cover it in various metals and stones until you manage to reduce its intended functionality to zero, while making it too shiny and expensive that anyway you must keep it in a bank vault.

After The Swarovski crystals that iPhones, iPods, laptops and do not forget a guitar, the next victim is an innocent LCD monitor with decent technical specifications, but nothing fancy in that department. The LCD screens were supplied by the ViewSonic manufacturing company. They are from the VX2255 family of monitors that feature a 22 inch wide display with a native resolution of 1680x1050, a contrast ration of 700:1 and pretty low response time of 5ms. Along side these quite common features nowadays the monitors integrate a Web camera with a definition of 1.3 megapixel and a microphone that are ideal for video conferencing and Internet chatting.

Because of its wide aspect layout, this monitor is better suited for business applications where its ability to simultaneously display two full page documents may come in handy and less intended for gamers that may resent its widescreen format and its medium response time. The bling thing with the ViewSonic VX2255 was done with help from the company G Mask International with whom the monitor manufacturer entered a partnership to let users customize their products. The price tag and general availability of the VX2255 monitors (bling version) are not yet known but what is known is that they will come in two colors, white and black, and that they will be presented at a hardware trade in Singapore. The normal and generally available version of the VX2255 monitor from ViewSonic is colored in black and costs a little over $400.
