The development team at Obsidian announces that it is entering the final development stage for its upcoming Pillars of Eternity and that it is currently finalizing a number of rewards that are set to be offered to those who backed the title on Kickstarter.

In an official forum announcement, the studio explains that “It’s one thing to have a playable game here in the studio that we continually maintain – it’s another to be able to really help design the look, feel, and content of every little bit of what comprises a game that ultimately will ship out to you.”

The cover of the Collector’s Edition for Pillars of Eternity is already available and more info on the other rewards will be offered in the coming weeks.

Kickstarter encourages teams to create reward tiers with different unique items, and Obsidian has said that it wants all of the extra content that it offers to the fan community to be high quality, which is why their delivery might take longer than initially predicted.

Feedback is crucial for development

Obsidian also thanks all those who have taken part in the special backer beta for Pillars of Eternity and have offered info on how the core mechanics are working and what elements of the role-playing experience the team needs to improve.

The studio says it is creating “big improvements to pathfinding and combat, some significant changes to scouting and stealth and how they work, and we’re doing a lot of reviews on the game’s UI and overall presentation to improve the experience. Expect to see a lot of changes coming in on the beta over the coming weeks.”

Pillars of Eternity will be complete soon

Obsidian has not yet settled on a clear launch date for Pillars of Eternity, mainly because it wants to make sure that the game has the quality the community has been waiting for before actually launching it.

The studio says that, at the moment, the focus is on the finalization of areas and quests and on making sure that no major bugs are present.

Pillars of Eternity is a classic take on party-based role playing, with the team at Obsidian creating an entirely new fantasy universe that gamers can get acquainted with.

The title will give gamers freedom to explore areas, select their companions, evolve their abilities and their equipment as they deal with monsters, explore quest chains, and find out more about the world they are exploring.
