The last patch the folks over at Obsidian have released for their masterpiece Pillars of Eternity went live on Steam on about two weeks ago. However, that doesn't mean that all the problems and issues have been fixed (sadly).

There are a bunch of more changes that Obsidian plans to implemented in the next patch, which is expected to go live later today.

We're talking about the beta version of patch 1.06 that's about to be released on Steam on May 22, but you won't be able to get it unless you opt into beta patches.

The process is pretty simple. Go ahead and log into Steam, open your Library and right-click on Pillars of Eternity in the list of your games. Then, choose Properties, select beta, and you're all set.

You should start receiving Pillars of Eternity beta patches as soon as Obsidian makes them available on Steam. Speaking of which, patch 1.06 comes with lots of bug fixes and balance adjustments, as well as UI tweaking.

Lots of fixes for quests and crashes have been added

Some of the crashes that players reported will be addressed in this patch, like, for example, one that some people were experiencing right on startup. According to developers, the issue occurred when Unity attempted to load a corrupted font.

Other fixes mentioned by Obsidian as part of patch 1.06 include one where a door in the Stronghold's Great Hall could become locked after the Steward unlocked it.

And here is another one that's been affecting lots of Pillars of Eternity. Obsidian addressed an issue for cases where hurting a Crucible Knight during the Forge Knight attach on Crucible Keep would cause Lady Webb to assume you have burned the bridges with the knights' faction.

That would force the invite to the hearing to come from Dunryd Row instead. According to developers, this fix should also be retroactive for cases where Lady Webb still waits to hear your word about getting an invite.

Anyway, it looks like patch 1.06 will be huge in terms of changes, just like the previous ones, so you might want to check the full changelog below.
