The development team at Obsidian is delivering a new update for the Pillars of Eternity project, which does not focus on any mechanics that are being added to the title or on the story that it will tell but on the way gamers who have backed the project can get access to their rewards and to the beta for it.

Brandon Adler, a lead producer on the experience, states on the official forums that “We have some important information for you regarding the Backer Beta and how to manage your pledge. We also have exciting news for you regarding Wasteland 2 keys and how you can get your key from the backer portal. Our next update will be focused on how to redeem your Eternity beta keys and special Backer Beta information.”

The crowdfunding period for Pillars of Eternity will officially end on August 22, which means that all those who want to get the title for a reduced price need to place an order now, as do those who want to get associated content linked to it.

All tiers of backing will also be locked and the results for the various player surveys are also considered final in order to allow the development team to make the changes needed to the core game experience.

Gamers who have also paid enough to get a key for Wasteland 2 can pick it up now on the special rewards tab, with only the Steam options offered at the moment but with more services being added in the coming days.

Obsidian also announces that the backer beta for Pillars of Eternity continues to have an August 18 launch date.

The company states, “We will be releasing the Backer Beta on Steam only. The reason for this is because Steam makes the process of uploading new builds much easier than other platforms. This will allow us to put out updated versions of the game more quickly than we could otherwise. The main game will still be available on all previously promised options (Steam, GOG, etc.).”

The official portal will be used to deliver keys to gamers and a special forum will be created to allow players to offer feedback to the development team and talk about the experience.

Matthew Sheets, the leader of the Quality Assurance team at Obsidian, will monitor all opinions in order to get info that can be then used to tweak the final version of Pillars of Eternity.
