Katsuhiro Harada, the current producer working on the Tekken fighting game series, says that the main designer of the first two Pikmin video games, Masamichi Abe, is now working on an entirely new intellectual property at Nintendo.

The Twitter message reads, “He is in Nintendo Kyoto now. working on some Nintendo original title RT@2Andrin what happened to Masamichi Abe? Is he retired?”

Masamichi Abe is a very experienced game maker who has also worked on titles like Metroid Prime: Hunters and Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again.

Nintendo has not commented on the information that an entirely new game universe is being created.

It’s unclear whether Masamichi Abe is working on the Wii U home console or on the 3DS handheld.

Nintendo has said that it plans to create original intellectual properties in order to attract a new group of players to its devices.
