Piers Morgan and trans activist Janet Mock settle Twitter dispute in second CNN interview

Janet Mock, a high-profile transgender woman and trans activist, is now promoting her first book on her life and struggles as a transgender woman of color. One of her first promo stops was on Piers Morgan’s CNN show, but it went so badly that she returned a second day to settle the feud.

Video of the second interview is embedded below.

Janet’s issue with the first interview was that the CNN subtitle read “was a boy until 18” and “formerly a man,” for which she blamed Morgan. However, though the appearance had been taped several days before, she waited until the interview aired to take to Twitter and blast Morgan for being ignorant.

This unleashed a string of abuse from the trans community towards the CNN talk show host, but, instead of responding to these hateful messages, he just asked Janet back on the show.

As you can see in the video below, during this second chat, Piers Morgan goes to almost painful lengths to try and understand what he’d done wrong to upset Janet this badly, when he’d been nothing but the most honest and vocal supporter of trans rights.

She, in turn, tries to make him understand that she wasn’t “born a boy”: she was “born a baby” who was then labeled a male even though she identified from a young age, and even revealed herself as female to her parents at 6.
