Actor Pierce Brosnan confessed he was happy and relieved when he found out he doesn't have to play James Bond anymore, arguing he detested to play such a 'phony' character.
Brosnan, 52, who played in the James Bond series for four times, declared he never liked his character or the movies, because of the unimaginative and formulaic plots.
Brosnan says: "I had all these stupid one-liners and loathed them. I felt like such a phony. It never felt real to me and I never felt I had complete ownership of the role.
They play it so safe. The pomposity and rigmarole they put directors through is astounding", Pierce added.
Pierce Brosnan, born May 16, 1953, is best known for portraying the James Bond secret agent character in four spy films: "GoldenEye", "Tomorrow Never Dies", "The World Is Not Enough", and "Die Another Day".
He is credited with reviving the James Bond film series after a six year hiatus caused by legal disputes over ownership of the series.
