iPod nano to also get a camera

Apple's iPod touch has been rumored for quite some time now to be on its way to receiving a camera, and the latest photos with the upcoming iteration of the device show a photo snapper present on its back. Moreover, it seems that the cameras will be present on the upcoming iPod nano as well, the only difference between them being the fact that the former will have the camera placed in the center on its back, while the latter will have it sideways.

The camera on the iPod nano is reportedly placed in the bottom left corner, which means that, when the device is held horizontally to take pictures it will be placed on the top left corner. At the same time, another rumor that has been cycling around and which seems to be confirmed via the newly spotted images is that the nano will receive a larger screen.

It looks like that Chinese case manufacturers are already sending out samples of the cases, which means that they are pretty sure that these are the specs and the dimensions the devices will come to the market with. “My company had got full information and dimension,” a Chinese distributor has reportedly written in an email to a U.S. reseller. “Enclosed some image and instruction for your reference. Most of the sample available now. If you need some sample check quality please freely let me know.”

According to Cult of Mac, the screen in the iPod nano is expected to grow to a 1.5:1 aspect ratio, up from 1.33:1. In addition, the click wheel on the nano will be smaller and placed closer to the bottom of the device, which leaves more room for the display, and enables users to reach it faster when taking a photo. As for the iPod touch that can be seen in the photos, it should be the third-gen device, hence the iPhone-like mockup, CoM says.

There are no exact details on the specs the cameras on iPod touch and nano will come to the market with, though it seems that the touch might come with video recording capabilities as well, a feature unlikely to surface in the nano. Take a look at the images below, check CoM for even more, and let us know what you think about the cameras on the iPods.
