This past weekend, people enjoying some quiet moments in their boats or kayaks around Port San Louis were rather taken aback when a group of humpback whales decided to feed in these shallow waters, very close to curious onlookers.

Luckily, retired biology teacher Bill Bouton had brought a camera with him and managed to take some very impressive shots of these marine mammals.

Truth be told, he only brought the camera because he meant to take pictures of birds, but we highly doubt that he was very disappointed when the humpback whales took center stage.

Seeing how these pictures are in fact really amazing ones, it is no wonder that they went viral in a matter of hours.

As those who witnessed the whales' feeding time in person put it, “It was priceless,” “I was really lucky,” “It's been absolutely crazy.”
