Researchers have long warned us that climate change and global warming are bound to toy with the planet's biodiversity, but, as it turns out, it took a three-headed stag caught on camera in Lithuania to really sound the alarm.

The odd creature featured in the picture above was photographed by 37-year-old Renatas Jakaitis, who chanced to stumble upon it while walking about a local forest.

Before anyone jumps to any conclusions and starts thinking that the end of the world as we know it is way closer than anybody assumes, it must be said that the weird creature is not really a three-headed stag.

On the contrary, the photo shows three fallow-deer that, while walking in a line, decided to turn around and face the camera all at the same time.

“I knew that in most cases during the winter, the animals are walking in paths one after the other, so I followed a group of wild deer, and I expected there would be something I'd like to photograph,” Renatas Jakaitis told the press.

“When I took the picture I didn't even notice it, it was only when I looked back at the images on my camera that I realized. I thought, 'that's incredible!'” he added, as cited by Daily Mail.

Almost immediately after the photographer managed to snap this picture, the three stags all ran away and hid from sight. Renatas Jakaitis says it was his presence that spooked them.
