When out sailing, one would expect dolphins, whales or other marine creatures to approach their boat.

Hence the fact that people sailing close to Big Major Cay, a small island in the Bahamas, will surely have the surprise of their lives when a swimming pig comes by to say “hello.”

Tree Hugger reports that this patch of land is home to about 20 wild pigs. The island is not inhabited by people, so the animals only have to share local food resources with some stray cats and some goats.

For some reason, the pigs living in this part of the world have taken up swimming. Nobody knows how and why they've picked up this habit, but there's no denying that they wouldn't be swimming if they didn't enjoy it.

Oddly enough, locals don't even know how it was that the pigs ended on the island. Some say that they were brought here by sailors, others claim that they swam to the island after a shipwreck.
