Hyenas are known to be extraordinarily gifted predators, but I'm guessing their ability to walk on water has never before been documented by wildlife researchers.

The hyena pictured above was caught on camera by photographers Michel and Christine Denis-Huot while hunting flamingos in Kenya.

Fear not, the predator isn't actually doing a Jesus impersonation. It only looks as if it were walking on water because this part of Lake Nakuru in Kenya is very shallow and calm.

The photographers say that, after strolling among the birds, the hyena managed to catch one and turn it into its next meal. Daily Mail reports that, during the past years, several other hyenas were spotted hunting flamingos that came to rest on this lake.

“The hyenas start by just watching the birds, and then gradually get closer to them, they start walking on the shore or going into the shallow water.”

“Then suddenly, they began to run; quite often nearly all of the birds manage to fly away, but sometimes the weakest ones don't succeed and the hyena manages to catch it,” Michel and Christine Denis-Huot explain.
