The species was recently discovered in the Andes, looks utterly adorable

Back in August, the news that a new teddy-bear like species had been discovered in the Andes made headlines.

The species was named the olinguito and many are still trying to wrap their heads around the fact that, despite their funny name and their even funnier face, these animals are carnivores.

The picture above shows a baby olinguito, and was taken some time ago by wildlife researchers exploring a cloud forest in Colombia, Mongabay reports.

For some reason, it seems to me that the baby olinguito does not exactly like being handled by humans, and would much prefer it if the weird two-legged creatures snapping pictures of it would just go mind their own business and leave it alone.

Wildlife researchers expect the species to become an ambassador for conservation, and help them raise awareness about the need to protect these incredibly biodiverse regions of the world.
