The baby orangutan featured in the picture above was born at Devon's Paignton Zoo less than a month ago.

Given its very young age, it need not surprise anyone that the baby ape spends most of its time simply cuddling with its mum.

Sources say that the baby ape was born to 18-year-old Mali. Both the female orangutan and its offspring find themselves in good health.

Although the staff at said animal sanctuary are yet to be certain of it, it appears that the baby orangutan is a girl.

“We are pretty sure it’s a girl. Keepers are 99.9 per cent sure that the baby, now a month old, is female,” a spokesperson for the zoo reportedly told the press.

In the months to come, the baby ape is expected to grow both the strength and the confidence it needs in order to go about exploring its enclosure on its own.
