And a new private sharing link

Photos are meant to be shared, by nature, so the multitude of services offering to help you share your pics with your friends is unsurprising. One of the most popular is Google’s Picasa. It allows you to store photo albums online and share the ones you want with the world or just specific friends. And, now, it’s even easier to spread the word around, as Picasa has gotten several share buttons to help you post a photo on Blogger, Twitter or even Google Buzz.

“Like many other things in life, photos are best when shared. I share the majority of my photos on Picasa Web Albums, but I also sometimes tweet about specific photos or share them on my blog,” Ping Chen, software engineer at Google, wrote.

“Today, we're making it a little simpler to share your PWA photos to whichever destination you want, with the launch of easy share buttons for Google Buzz, Blogger and Twitter. To share a photo or album from Picasa Web Albums straight to any of these sites, just click the appropriate icon to the right of your photo, customize your message, and post it.” he added.

Now, when you’re browsing through your albums or looking at an individual photo, you’ll notice the three new sharing buttons on the right. They enable you to share the album or photo with just a few clicks. Twitter is obviously one of the largest sharing platforms around, and both Blogger and Buzz are Google proprieties, so the choices make sense.

A Facebook share button would have been nice, but that’s not going to happen anytime soon. Along with the new buttons, a useful feature has been introduced. With the “Link this photo” option, you can share a photo with anyone you want without making the whole album public or viewable.
