The latest Picasa desktop app has been around for a couple of months now but a lot more people can enjoy it now that it has been translated in 38 languages. Picasa 3.8 added quite a few new features like face movies and the Picnik integration.

"People around the world can now enjoy the updates in Picasa 3.8. The latest Picasa update is now available in 38 languages," Google announced.

"This update includes; batch uploading and other synchronization controls with Picasa Web Albums, the addition of Picnik's photo-editor, Face Movie and more. Face Movie is a fun way to showcase photos centered around one person," the announcement explained.

By default, Picasa uses the default language for the operating system in the interface. But, since not all languages were supported when Picasa 3.8 landed, users had to make a choice - they could get Picasa 3.8 in English or stick to the older version available in their language.

Now, they can grab the latest version with support for 38 languages. If the default language is not the desired one, users can change it from the Options section.

Picasa 3.8 was a rather big update. Along with the usual array of bug fixes and small tweaks, a couple of features stood out.

Face Movie is one of those, the feature enables users to create an interesting video slideshow based on the built-in Picasa face recognition technology.

Another new feature was the Picnik integration. Google acquired the web-based photo editing app earlier this year. The app had already been integrated with the Picasa website, but Picasa 3.8 brought it to the desktop.

There is also deeper integration with the web gallery, users can upload several albums at a time. They can also delete web albums from the desktop app as well as have more control over the size of the uploaded photos.
