Even if she stayed on the show and she hadn’t been voted off in the surprise elimination of last week, Pia Toscano still had zero chances of winning American Idol, despite what voices are saying online, it has emerged.

When presenter Ryan Seacrest announced that Pia was going home after the public vote, many (including the judges) voiced their surprised since they believed Pia was a frontrunner.

That, she never was, TMZ reports, citing an insider well familiar with the ranking by voting of each AI hopeful.

In other words, as much as audiences loved her (but, apparently, not enough to vote for her), Pia would have never won the show – and that’s not speculation, but an assertion based on exact figures.

“We’re told before Pia was booted, America’s votes put her in the murky middle – she was never near the top of the heap,” TMZ says.

In other words, seeing her say goodbye to the competition was just a matter of time.

“It was only a matter of time before Pia was kicked off. She was never going to win,” says one insider.

“And, our spies say, there are 5 remaining contestants who are ‘fairly consistently placing in the top 4.’ Our sources would not reveal who they are, but we have an educated guess as to 3 of them,” TMZ goes on to say.

These would be Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, and James Durbin. The other two could possibly be Jacob Lusk and Casey Abrams, the celebrity gossip e-zine further speculates.

The report that Pia never had any real chance of winning AI comes after an initiative from her fans to get producers to bend the rules of the show and bring her back, as we also reported the other day.

Fans are now pleading with producers and Fox, asking for Pia to be brought back on the show – and to have Stefano Langone walk, as a sign of admitting that last week’s elimination was an error because of a glitch in the voting system.
