Photoshop Still Waiting for Flickr Support

- Photoshop Express update postponed

By: Bogdan Popa, Security and Search Engines Editor

Photoshop Express, the web-based version of the famous graphics editor, was scheduled to receive a new update these days but, due to some unexpected glitches, Adobe
delayed the release, Pocket-Lint informs today. The new pack of updates brings multiple features to the Flash-based Photoshop, but one of the most expected features is surely the Flickr support which would let users download and upload pictures straight from and to Yahoo's photo sharing technology. With such a feature, users of Photoshop Express could manage and work with their photos stored in the Flickr account easier than anytime before.

According to the same source mentioned above, working with Flickr would mean that a Flickr user would be able to import a certain photo stored in his Flickr account, apply to it the effects he wants and edit the picture, and save it back in the Flickr account to share it with the rest of the community.

Photoshop Express is labeled as beta for the time being, as the parent company Adobe launched it a few months ago. As it is still in beta, Photoshop Express gets new features every once in a while, Flickr being only one of the services Adobe wants Photoshop Express to work with. At the moment, the Flash-based Photoshop is compatible with Facebook, Photobucket and Picasa. Photoshop Express is able to apply a large number of effects and conduct quite an advanced editing process over the users' photos but, in case somebody needs even more photo-editing, the offline version of Photoshop may still be the best answer.

UPDATE: the testing account provided by Adobe on the official Photoshop Express website already provides links to Flickr accounts, so Adobe is clearly rolling out the new update, which means the other accounts may receive Flickr support anytime soon. In addition, the "Save as" function, which was supposed to be included in the new pack of updates, is available as well in the testing Photoshop Express account.
