Finally, the
Mac version of
Photoshop Elements 6 has arrived. We'll just get straight to the new stuff, since some of you have been dying to hear about its Mac availability, so you should know that Adobe has added a new Quick Selection tool, function tabs and a bunch of extra options to make photo book and greeting card creating much easier. A single user license goes for $90US. However, if you're using an older version of Photoshop Elements 6, $70 is all you need to fork out for.
During the announcement of Photoshop Elements 6
for Windows platforms,
Adobe dated the Mac version of its software for "early 2008." Claiming "different development schedules" for the two versions of the photo editing tool, the Mac version of Photoshop Elements has also been long missing some image management features. No more, as Photoshop Elements 6 is here.
"Complete photo and video editing made easy," Adobe touts Elements 6. According to the software makers, it helps photo enthusiasts achieve desired results quickly and easily sporting proprietary-based features, while Photomerge tech lets users easily combine the best facial expressions and body language from a series of shots to create a single, perfect group shot.
As for the new Quick Selection tool, it eliminates the fuss of selecting and adjusting simplifying the means through which the two tasks are achieved. Users can choose one of the three edit modes, each geared toward a different experience level, with a new Guided Edit mode also available that helps users through the steps of tweaking up the quality of an image.
The new tabs provide access to all of the existing features within Elements 6. An improved conversion tool is also available with the new version of Photoshop Elements, which dramatically converts color images into elegant, nuanced black-and-whites.
