A 26-year-old man from Goring, West Sussex, is seeing strange images pop up in his iPhone’s Photo Stream after having his iPad stolen on a Christmas shopping trip.

Tom Clarke said he started receiving photos of a dog, some pink suitcases, and a man wearing a woolly, smirking, just hours after he had lost his iPad 2.

“I was away in Sweden on Christmas Day and I got two emails to say that the message had been delivered and that the iPad was locked,” he said, according to Yahoo! News.

“I thought at least they’ve seen the message and they might get in contact. Then as I was looking through my photos that day I noticed a picture of a dog, which I thought was a bit weird as I don’t have a dog,” he added.

He believed the images stemmed from the iPad 2 itself, and that they had arrived to his iPhone via Photo Stream. Photo Stream is an iCloud feature that allows subscribers to have all their photos shared across all their Apple devices. For example, in Tom’s case, a photo taken on the lost iPad 2 was immediately sent to the cloud, then to his iPhone, where he could see the whereabouts of his lost gadget.

Tom believes the man in this photo on the left is not the thief, but someone who knows whomever is now in possession of his tablet computer. In fact, Tom doesn’t necessarily want to point fingers at anyone.

“I don’t want to say it was stolen as they may have found it on the floor of Tesco’s car park. I’m not that interested in the person who has it, I just want the iPad back,” he said. “The guy in that picture is not by any means a thief he just knows the person who has it”.

Tom added: “It is just a really personal thing for someone to have in their possession with so many of my details and information on it. If I had something that had that much attachment to it I couldn’t just take it.”

Those who think they know the guy in the second photo, or even the dog for that matter, are encouraged to help out with the investigations.
