A few hours after Britney performed in San Diego, she was getting tons of publicity for more than her 14-minute show: a bunch of photos, allegedly of her topless in one of her friends' garden, slowly found their way on the Internet and people were all like 'Yowza! She's screwed!'.
Although there is no confirmation that this is, in fact, Britney Spears (other than the striking resemblance, the omnipresent hat plus wig combo and the horrible cowboy boots we've seen on Britney at least a dozen times), most people seem to believe that, indeed, the photos are not fake ones. The snaps were supposedly taken right after the singer left rehab but there is no indication as to how they might have been leaked. Neither the identity of the person who leaked them is known, but it is believed that it might actually have been one of her 'friends'.
Seeing that many of her fans were disappointed by the so-called 'comeback' of the pop princess, you can easily imagine the madness that ensued once these pics were made public: although she is showing less than she has already shown to the paparazzi over the past mouths, many took themselves to openly criticize the mother of two for pulling her top down and posing topless.
As you can see for yourselves, Britney is covering her breasts with flowers so, if one were to be completely objective, these photos are not even half as indecent and shameful as the ones dating from last year (the crotch shots, the photos of her drunk and showing parts of her body she should have kept covered and the images taken from the bar in which she switched bikinis with the dancers). However, they do raise a very big question mark: how will this affect her career?
The common opinion on the Internet is, at this moment, that Britney still needs help (specialized help) and a publicist. Things seemed to go really downhill for her the second she fired both her PR and her manager and, consequently, we all have been witnesses to what has been cataloged in the media as the trajectory of a 'trainwreck'. However, her fans (or at least the great majority of them) are still loyal to that image of Britney Spears the world got to know back in her glory days and nothing (not even these topless pics) is going to make them change their minds!
As a side note, if these photos are indeed real, they are most likely to do some damage to her overall image and credibility as a singer, as some of her fans have already pointed out on various websites. Others, more practical, only wish she had pulled a stunt like this before meeting K-Fed and having his kids...
