Nexus S, the first mobile phone to land on shelves with Google's yet unannounced Gingerbread mobile platform flavor, is as real as it can be, with both images with it and the necessary approvals from FCC and Wi-Fi Alliance making an appearance into the wild.

This is the first Gingerbread-based device from Samsung, and should arrive on shelves with no specific user interface from the handset vendor included into the mix.

Rumors on its existence emerged for quite some time now, with some of them calling the new device Nexus Two, but nothing was too solid until now.

Moreover, the Nexus S even made a brief appearance on Best Buy's website, where a pre-order page was put in place for it, though everything was pulled off soon after.

While neither Google, nor Samsung unveiled specific details on the new smartphone, a series of photos with it are already available for our viewing pleasure.

According to Engadget, which brought the photos into the wild, the handset already received the FCC and Wi-Fi approvals, pointing towards a rather near release window.

At the same time, they managed to uncover two similar Nexus S models at FCC, one expected to land in Europe, while the other most probably headed for T-Mobile USA, as it got the TMB label over it, namely the GT-i9020 and the GT-i9020T, respectively.

Both of them support AWS for 3G, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth and dual-band 850/1900 GSM frequencies, and should include a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus on the back.

Among the available photos with the new device, one seems to fit perfectly with the the FCC label documentation for the i9020, which leaves little room for doubt whether the handset is indeed the Nexus S or not.

Just as the leaked info from Best Buy showed, the FCC documentation unveiled the fact that Nexus S would arrive on T-Mobile's airwaves in the US, the same as Nexus One did, at least in the beginning, but no specific info on when that might happen emerged for the time being.

However, it shouldn't be too long before the smartphone is made official, as Gingerbread too is expected to be announced in a matter of days, so keep an eye on this space for more on this.
