Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation was long rumored to plan the launch of a series of new handsets, powered by Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 operating system, and it seems that we're close to learning what exactly the company has in store for us in this area.

However, until an official announcement is made, we have a series of leaked info and photos with what might be upcoming devices to go along with, the latest of which supposedly bring to light the HTC Mondrian.

This would be one of the first codename we learned about when it came to HTC's plans for Windows Phone 7-based devices, although nothing was officially confirmed on it for the time being.

However, the upcoming mobile phone can be admired in some leaked photos that emerged over at the German site BestBoyZ (via Engadget).

The existence of this Windows Phone 7 handset is not something that one should question, as this was confirmed recently via some video ads for the upcoming mobile OS, which named the HTC Mondrian specifically, while unveiling the fact that it would land in the US at AT&T.

However, there are only few details available on the specifications list of this handset, which should arrive on shelves as a high-end smartphone, rumor has it.

The HTC Mondrian should come to the market during the ongoing year accompanied by handsets like the HTC HD7 and Trophy, none of which was officially announced until now.

However, rumor has it that, while Mondrian and HD7 would be placed in the high-end area of the market, the HTC Trophy might arrive with lower specs, thus sporting a more affordable price tag and being targeted at a different market segment.

Until more info on the matter emerges, we should take a look at the newly unveiled photo with Mondrian, which shows a German ROM, as well as the HTC Hub on the home screen.

We're not sure to what extent was HTC able to customize the Windows Phone 7 OS, but specific info on this should become available in the near future, so keep an eye on this space for more.
