In a few recent pieces, we did quick roundups of what new cameras and lenses we are to expect of major photo gear manufacturers like Nikon and Canon during Photokina 2014.

Now, it’s time to offer Olympus fans the same treatment, and in what follows we’re going to walk you through the most anticipated products the camera maker is expected to bring to Cologne, Germany in just a few weeks.

PEN E-PL7

This Olympus camera has been heavily rumored and everything about it, including photos, manual, specs, price and release date leaked into the wild some time ago.

Therefore, there’s no question whether the PEN E-PL7 will be making an appearance at Photokina 2014. It’s a fact that the camera will be unveiled by the end of August, before the major photographic event and Olympus will have it on display in Germany.

The camera is expected to arrive with a 16MP Live MOS Micro Four Thirds image sensor, 3-inch 1.04-million dot articulated LCD touchscreen, 1/4000-60s shutter speed range, 100-25600 ISO sensitivity range and an 81-point autofocus technology.

The device will also be capable of recording videos at full HD res and snap RAW photos.

Silver Edition OM-D E-M1

The black version of the OM-D E-M1 is already available for purchase, but Olympus will be rolling out a Silver Edition too and a picture of it has already been leaked online.

What’s interesting is that the camera could arrive with new firmaware installed on it, making it 4K ready. It’s just a rumor that has been refuted by some sources, but we certainly hope it turns out to be true. OM-D E-M1 firmware

Speaking of which, Olympus is expected to roll out a massive firmware update for the Black version of the camera which will bring the much-craved-for 4K function. We’re keeping our fingers crossed. New OM-D camera

A replacement for the E-M5 should be coming in the form of a new OM-D series Micro Four Thirds camera.

TRIP-D

After making a debut in early 2014, rumors about a digital version of the TRIP 35 camera have died down in recent months. But that doesn’t mean Olympus couldn’t surprise us at Photokina 2014.

Apart from the cameras and firmware update mentioned above, Olympus might come to Germany equipped with new 40-150 mm f/2.8 PRO lens, 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO and 300mm f/4 PRO lens (their development has already been announced this year) and 9mm f/1.8 PRO – a lens rumored to arrive with f/2.8 aperture.
