There may be a lot of websites and services offering to store your photos online, but there seems to be plenty of room for everyone. While, in terms of sheer numbers, Facebook is untouchable, when it comes to dedicated sites the competition is tighter.

Photobucket, one of the biggest stand-alone photo sharing sites, has revealed some interesting stats, indicating that video and photo uploads from mobile devices are increasing.

Hardly surprising considering that most phones these days have both photo and video recording capabilities. While the quality of the shots may not be great in most cases, the ease of use makes up for it.

What's more, since smartphones are becoming increasingly popular, uploading a photo or a video to the web is easier than ever and doesn't require any other intermediary devices.

That's probably part of the reason behind the big growth in mobile usage of this type of services. For example, a Photobucket survey showed that 45 percent of those asked shot a video with a mobile device in the last week.

In fact, 17 percent of them shoot a video a day, while 9 percent shoot several every day with their mobile phones.

That said, video uploads to Photobucket are on the rise, regardless of where they're coming from, according to the site's internal data. Video uploads increased 3.5 times in the past year.

But mobile use is growing much faster, the number of video uploads from mobile devices grew 14 times since December.

That said, photo uploads are on the rise as well. The site sees 25 million photo uploads from mobile every month, five times more than last year at the same time.

However, the survey also found that a significant number of people use more than one photo sharing service. 41 percent had photos on three or more sites. 15 percent had photos on five or more sites.
