Developer Padadaz has released an innovative application for iPhone users, called PhotoSwap. It lets you take pictures of... well, anything really meaningful, and instantly send them to a friend. The recipient, in turn, can answer back with another photo. Best of all, PhotoSwap is free!

Per the app's publisher, David Jilli, the iTunes App Store description goes like this,

Looking at something worth taking a picture of? Use PhotoSwap and send your picture immediately to another randomly selected PhotoSwap user. In exchange, you'll get a picture from him. You can reply to each picture you receive with another picture. PhotoSwap lets you engage in a real photo-based conversation. [...] Be surprised by a unique glimpse into someone else’s life.

So, PhotoSwap is a free, photo-based chatting app, which enables you to stay in touch with your friends in a fun way. Unfortunately, PhotoSwap is only available for iPhone users, since the iPod touch doesn't sport a camera. Speaking of which, Padadaz has also issued some instructions for iPhone owners.

First off, you have to download and install the app on your iPhone. As you've probably already learned, that's as easy as tapping the app's icon once the download is complete. Next up on the to-do list once you've fired up PhotoSwap is to touch the Camera. That will take a picture and initiate a “photo swap” with another user. Remember that each picture taken has one and only one recipient. To reply to someone, touch the Reply button to send a photo to the author of the picture you're currently looking at. To view the replies you've received, touch the Messages button. For more information about the author of a picture, such as their location (if available), tap Info. You can adjust the settings using the iPhone's own settings menu. That's pretty much it!

To get PhotoSwap for your own device, simply visit the iTunes App Store here. Your iPhone must run at least firmware 2.0 to be able to enjoy this free, photo-based, social-networking service. Drop us a line after giving it a go.
