Nobody can explain how and why these trees ended up merging to such an extent

Should you ever visit Italy (or maybe revisit it, provided that you've been to this corner of the world already), you might want to pay a visit to the country's Piemonte region.

This is because it is here where you will get the chance to lay eyes on one of the wackiest things Mother Nature has ever been imaginative enough to create: a tree growing right on top of another tree.

This natural wonder sits between the towns of Grana and Casorzo, and comprises a cherry tree growing on top of a mulberry tree, Oddity Central informs.

It is still unclear how and why these trees ended up merging together in such a bizarre way. Still, it is believed that some bird that dropped a cherry seed on top of the mulberry tree might be to blame.

Specialists who have had the chance to examine this oddity say that, although cases of trees growing on other trees have been documented before, what makes this one stand out is the sheer size of the plants, the same source informs.

Thus, contrary to what some would expect, the cherry tree does not look small and feeble. On the contrary, it is about as big as the mulberry tree that serves as its host.
