It didn’t take long for this to happen: just hours after Warner Bros. released the first official photo of Henry Cavill as Superman in Zack Snyder’s upcoming “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” the Internet was already having fun with it and with the other official still for the film, of Ben Affleck in full Batman costume.

The result is a tender, loving embrace, as you can see in the photo above: click to see it in full.

The pic comes from Twitter, from film critic Ali Arikan and, if you look closely, you’ll notice that there’s more to it than first meets the eye. The film is called “Batman V. Superman” (a ridiculous choice to put “V.” in the title instead of “vs.,” fans are still saying) but, in this photo, the much derided “V.” has been replaced by a cute little heart.

Yes, Superman and Batman are in love and most likely a couple. Batman seems upset about something and Superman is holding him as if he’s trying to offer him some comfort, and perhaps even some protection too.

It must be the rain, this is what got Batman so under the weather, pun intended.

All jokes aside, viral photos like this were to be expected. When Zack Snyder released the first pic of Ben Affleck in costume, it became a meme almost instantaneously, with fans trying to come up with new and funnier ways of explaining why he was so bummed out.

“Dawn of Justice” does arrive in theaters until May 2016. Until then, we still have plenty of time to be entertained this way, so don’t go anywhere.
