It seems that nothing that Marvel does these days is right. We’re talking about the comic book universe not the cinematic one, where things couldn’t be better. After coming under serious fire for the female Thor and completely changing the costume of Iron Man, it’s now being criticized for the new Spider-Woman series.

To quote Elle magazine, it’s “tough being a female superhero out there.” Spider-Woman is finally getting her own series in November, with Marvel releasing 2 covers for it: the official one and an alternate version by artist Milo Manara.

It’s the latter that’s getting the blood boiling in the veins of many, but you can find both photos in the gallery below.

As you can see, the alternate cover has Spider-Woman on all fours, bum high up in the air as she’s looking for bad guys to tackle and bring to justice. The way in which her buttocks are drawn and the position of the body itself make this photo an oversexualized one.

Moreover, it looks as if she is not wearing a costume at all, just body paint. Would Spider-Woman ever go out to fight bad guys in body-paint? Doubtful. Not unless she’s going to twerk those villains to death.

Voices online say the same applies to the first cover as well, what with the gaze resting on her chest and not much else. On the other hand, she appears to have no legs at all.

Seeing how the biggest piece of news in music today is Nicki Minaj’s very racy music video for “Anaconda,” here’s one more thing about the latest Marvel cover: the third photo in the gallery is a screenshot from said video. Can you see the resemblance? Spider-Woman is a video vixen!
