14 DAY TRIAL // As the entire world was breathlessly watching online or on TV the police manhunt for the second, youngest suspect in the Boston Marathon bomb attacks, actress Zooey Deschanel must have had the surprise of a lifetime when she was mistakenly identified as him.
It happened during the manhunt coverage of a local Fox affiliate station and proof of it is above – click to see the image in full.
Instead of naming Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev as the suspect, the closed caption names Zooey, though how this mix-up came to happen is still a mystery.
“Marathon bombing, he is 19-year-old Zooey Deschanel,” the incorrect caption read.
Zooey got wind of the mishap on Twitter, thanks to radio producer and writer Peter Ogburn, and tweeted in response, “Whoa! Epic closed captioning FAIL! Oh my.”
Epic indeed.
