Rocker posts side-by-side photo on Instagram, insists he’s not “comparing”

I liked Jared Leto both as an actor and as a musician long before he became the industry’s darling after winning a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his absolutely impressive performance in “Dallas Buyers Club.” And I still like him for his wicked sense of humor and ability to not take himself too seriously.

Above is a photo the actor posted to his Instagram the other day, a side-by-side comparison between Jesus the Son of God and Jared himself. Only that, the actor explains in the accompanying post, it’s not really a comparison but rather an appraisal of fashion trends.

“Haaaa! Fashion may go out of style but style never goes out of fashion. #ClassicLooks #FashionForward #ThanksJC #NotComparingToChrist xo,” Leto writes.

While some have been quick to call him out for saying he looks like Jesus (which he does to a certain extent, at least here), consider this: there’s been so much fuss around him for every little thing about his public persona in the past several months, that he’s probably just having a crack at it.

Jared Leto’s excellent hair, his perfect ombre ‘do, his fashion sense, his scarf obsession, his rock god aura, were all been dissected over and over again by the media before the Oscars. To a point, he must be amused by all this, especially since he never imagined he would ever be the object of this kind of attention.

And this is probably how he came across this photo and why he posted it online.

Well, either that or he really is as shallow and self-involved, as some tabloid reports would have it. What’s your take on this? Let me know in the comments section below.
