In case you can't sleep at night for fear that you might never know what Greece looks like when seen from space, the time has come for you to heave a sigh of relief. Simply put, salvation is here.

The photo above was taken earlier this year, on March 21, by astronauts aboard the International Space Station. However, it was released by NASA only a few days ago.

The photo documents what Greece's shoreline and its good old neighbor, the Mediterranean Sea, look like when observed from high up in the sky. Athens, the country's capital city is also visible in this image.

“Dark-toned mountains with snow-covered peaks contrast with warmer, greener valleys where agriculture takes place,” NASA writes in a press release on its website.

“The intense blue of the Mediterranean Sea fades near the Sun’s reflection point along the right side of the image, and numerous wind streaks in the lee of the islands become visible,” the Administration goes on to explain.

The photo was taken by one of the crew members of Expedition 39. The astronaut who took the picture used a Nikon D3S digital camera with a 28 millimeter lens to obtain this clear image of Greece as seen from space.
