We already knew that Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion was working on a third touchscreen-enabled BlackBerry Storm device, and confirmation of that has just emerged.

What appears to be the first photo of BlackBerry Storm 3 was published on the Internet today over at BerryReview, offering us a glimpse at what the successor of Storm and Storm 2 should be looking like.

Of course, we could be looking at nothing more than a Photoshop creation, but there are also great chances that this is the real deal, especially when taking into consideration the fact that RIM tends to keep certain design elements unchanged from a device to another.

According to some of the latest reports around the Internet, this might indeed be the long rumored Storm 3 smartphone from Research In Motion, the one that was rumored a while back to bring LTE connectivity options on Verizon Wireless' airwaves.

The rumored specifications list of the new device would include a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, complemented by 8GB of internal storage.

At the same time, the yet unannounced mobile phone should come with a 5-megapixel photo snapper, most probably with video recording capabilities included in the package.

Moreover, rumor has it that BlackBerry 6 OS would be powering this beauty, and that Verizon might be set to bring it to the market before the end of the ongoing year.

No details on what connectivity options the device would include have been unveiled for the time being, but, in case it lands in 2010, there are slim chances that it would indeed pack LTE on board, since the first such phones are expected at Big Red only next year.

However, one interesting feature the device is expected to sport is mobile hotspot functionality, something that should make its users happy, that's for sure.

There are still a wide range of unknown details on BlackBerry Storm 3, that's for sure, but it shouldn't be too long before more on it is made available, so keep an eye on this space for more.
