The search technologies represent the main attraction on the internet because many companies are working hardly to produce the most powerful solution. At this time, Google own the most popular search engine but it's continuously challenged by Yahoo, the well-known rival that developed the giant portal. There are many other companies that are looking to compete with Google and Yahoo such as Ask, Live Search and many others so the battle is very interesting.

Although many companies are looking to involve into the search engine battle, there are a lot of developers that want to create only search features that allow you to find specific files or formats, such as images or maps. As you know, Google already own an image search function, but the feature will be soon just a rival for another photo search service.

Polar Rose, a Swedish company, announced that the company is currently working for a photo search technology that will be based on facial-recognition features. "Polar Rose is to release software that uses innovative facial-recognition techniques aimed at providing the most comprehensive facial search facility yet produced.

The company claims that the software's unique 3D facial representations enable its search engine to scan images by shade and angle as well as many other attributes. Continued advances in search engine technology have led some industry insiders to suggest that individuals' privacy is at risk. A whole raft of new privacy issues are always created [by new search engine techniques]," said Privacy International director Simon Davies, speaking to the Associated Press, Spannerworks reported.

The giants' reaction to this new announcement is very interesting because a close competition between multiple companies can provide us only better products and improved performance from the developed solutions.
