Michael Larabel had the pleasure of announcing a few minutes ago, July 11, the immediate availability for download of the first maintenance release for the 5.2 branch of his popular Phoronix Test Suite benchmarking software.

Phoronix Test Suite 5.2.1 adds VDPAU as a dependency to xorg-video, no longer checks the OpenBenchmarking.org for credentials if no Internet connection is available, and fixes a couple of minor graph alignment issues.

In addition, this first maintenance release of Phoronix Test Suite 5.2 comes with built-in support for the graphical desktop environment of Linux Deepin, better detects the GPU utilization when using the Nvidia proprietary driver, and displays text-based graph results.

“Phoronix Test Suite 5.2.1 simply incorporates the fixes and minor improvements that have come about over the past month while the major development efforts are now focused around Phoronix Test Suite 5.4-Lipki, which will be released in the next three months.”

“Among the changes in Phoronix Test Suite 5.2.1 are some graph alignment improvements, Deepin Desktop Environment detection, improved reading of the NVIDIA proprietary driver GPU utilization level, the result-file-to-text sub-command has been vastly improved, and other improvements were merged,” Michael Larabel said in the official announcement.
