PhoneView, an application that allows iPhone and iPod touch users to manage the content of their handsets, has recently been updated to include support for accessing screenshots in Camera mode, and fix a bunch of issues emerged in previous versions of the software. The latest release merely fixes a crash encountered by some v2.0.4 users.

While PhoneView 2.0.2 added a slew of bug fixes and tweaks, the following two versions included support for the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 2.0 operating system (version 2.0.3), but also support for accessing screenshots in Camera mode, improved SMS mode view and increased timeout for data retrieval and other minor fixes and enhancements. Since 2.0.2 was released, Ecamm Network was also able to fix an issue where photos with an unknown date would be listed with today's date, and a possible error (4210) when adding notes after upgrading to iPhone OS 2.0 which changed default font for notes mode display to Helvetica. As noted above, the latest version of the software includes only a single bug fix, following some complaints from v2.0.4 users.

PhoneView lets you use your iPhone / iPod touch as a storage environment. Using the app, you can take your important files with you and later on place them back where they belong. Whether you've changed their content or not, PhoneView lets you grab items from your Mac and store them on your iPhone, and vice-versa. Using a Mac OS X-like interface, PhoneView makes it easy to transfer files between your Mac and your iPhone with drag-and-drop functionality.

Key features of PhoneView include: simple interface; store any type of files; access music, videos, podcasts and photos; instant access to Notes; easily create new Notes; export iPhone SMS and recent calls; use iPhone for backup purposes; bring your data between home and office.

PhoneView (formerly known as iPhoneDrive and later on MegaPhone) requires an iPhone or an iPod touch, iTunes 7.3 or later and a USB 2.0 port on your Mac.

Softpedia can offer a trial version of the software, good for seven days of use. It also has support for limited music, photo, SMS, call history and notes access. Click HERE to download and try out PhoneView now.
