Phoenix International Systems has announced today the introduction of a new storage solution, specifically tailored to meet the performance requirements of the military, aerospace and industrial applications. The company's new solution comes as a VME data storage plug-in blade, based on the new VS1-250-SSD Serial Attached SCSI (SAS)/Serial ATA(SATA) solid state drive. The new solution promises to deliver an
increase in performance and meet the requirements of the aforementioned working environments.

According to a press release announcing the launch of the new product, the VS1-250-SSD has been designed as a 6U, single-slot module that can house one or two 2.5-inch SAS or SATA solid state drives with a maximum storage capacity of 256GB per drive, for a maximum, combined storage of 512GB. In addition, the module has been fitted with a front panel connector that can be used as an interface with other modules.

Among some of the highlights of the new storage module from Phoenix International we should mention the burst data rate transfer speed of up to 300MB/s and sustained data transfer of 120MB/s. Thanks to a rugged chassis and an overall sturdy design, the VS1-250-SSD can function at operating temperatures in the range of -40 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius, and at an altitude greater than 80,000 feet. The solution has been designed to provide low power consumption and comes with 1,300,000 MTBF.

The VS1-250-SSD makes use of the SLC NAND Flash technology to provide an increase in performance. The overall build of the storage module makes it an ideal solution for business environments. Unfortunately, the company did not reveal any details regarding the pricing and availability of its VS1-250-SSD, but you can be sure you won't find it at your local IT retailer.
