Superheroes don’t exist only in comic books, cartoons and the movies: in Seattle, they actually roam the streets at night, fighting crime and risking their own lives in the process. Just ask Phoenix Jones, who was recently arrested for assault.

Phoenix Jones is a fixture on the streets of Seattle, being a part of a group called the Real Life Superheroes. He’s gotten in trouble before but, this time, his identity was revealed to the public.

The Smoking Gun informs that Jones got arrested over the weekend after attacking a bunch of clubgoers and spraying them with pepper spray.

He says he wanted to break up a club brawl, they say they were simply hanging around when he attacked them without provocation.

This wouldn’t be the first time that victims tell police Jones is a maniac who should be put under lock and key to keep him from pursuing vigilante justice.

“Benjamin Fodor, 23, was arrested after a woman told police that she and her friends were ‘attacked and pepper sprayed by a male in a spiderman costume’,” SG writes, pointing out that Jones’ outfit bears more of a resemblance to Batman than Spider-Man.

“Investigators noted that the victims denied fighting in the street, and that they wanted Fodor ‘to be arrested for attacking them.’ Cops confiscated Fodor’s costume, mask, and two cans of pepper spray, which were ‘packaged for evidence’,” the same report reads.

The police report also says that, on the same night, Jones maced other clubgoers as well, but they departed by the time officers arrived on the scene.

Various other complaints have been lodged against him for using his pepper spray without cause on passers-by. Police reports note that Phoenix / Fodor is usually under the influence when this happens.

“Charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a weapon, Fodor spent about seven hours in custody yesterday before bonding out,” the Smoking Gun writes.

One user claims this is real video of the incident. If this is true, then, indeed, Phoenix Jones was only trying to break up a fight.
