Another Telugu movie is leveraged by cybercriminals to trick users into handing over their credentials.

Last week, experts from security firm Symantec warned Indian users about phishing sites featuring “Brindavanam.” This week, they’ve spotted a campaign that relies on the popularity of the movie “Saitan.”

Victims are lured to the malicious website with a title that reads “Samantha & Kajal Very Hot Song.” The named actors are not even in the “Saitan” movie, but the cybercriminals are abusing their popularity to attract unsuspecting users.

Internauts who visit the site are promised a clip of a “very hot scene” from the movie if they log in to their accounts.

Those who fall for the ruse and enter their credentials are actually handing them over to the cybercriminals. Once the information is submitted, victims are redirected to the legitimate website of a different movie, “Ye Maya Chesave.”

It appears that popular Telugu movies have become a great topic for phishing scams, which is why users are advised to be extra cautious when searching for content related to such films.
