Phishing is one of the main security issues concerns for both internet users and software developers because this illegal activity can cause important damages by stealing our bank account or credit card information. A phishing website is often a page that copies all the elements of another site requiring the user to enter private details about his financial accounts. Very often, the attackers, called phishers, are sending some e-mails requiring the potential victim to send bank data or credit card information to avoid getting the account removed.

There are a lot of products
that are trying to block all these malicious attempts, but sometimes it is not enough to be 100 percent protected against phishing attacks. Google is one of the companies that tried to fight against this threat but, as some users reported, the partnership between Firefox and the Safe Browsing experience is not as powerful as the search giant said.

McAfee is one of the antiphishing solutions providers that designed SiteAdvisor as a useful utility meant to notify the user every time he visits a dangerous website. SiteAdvisor is currently one of the most known applications in its category, being installed by millions of customers from all around the world. But McAfee was aiming to improve the solution and make it even more powerful by adding phishing protection to block all the malicious attempts that require users to enter their financial information.

"McAfee, Inc. today announced that McAfee SiteAdvisor, the world's first safe search and browse technology, now provides anti-phishing protection. Beginning immediately, consumers who download the free SiteAdvisor software will get advanced, real-time "phishing" detection that combines white lists, black lists and heuristics to provide early warnings against scam sites that can compromise consumers' identities. Current SiteAdvisor users will get this new feature automatically," the company sustained in a press release.

McAfee SiteAdvisor for Internet Explorer was also tested by Softpedia and it is available as a free download on this link.
