Another new version of the recent Nationwide scheme

As we reported yesterday, the cybercriminals whose main goal is to steal sensitive information from Nationwide customers come up with a new version of their scheme every few days. The latest tricks the potential victim into clicking on a link by informing him/her of the classic security upgrade.

“We are upgrading our security service system to make sure you are always safe when banking online with us, this is to serve and ensure you that your account is always protected from malicious threat,” the emails read.

“Therefore we would like you to go through your account and register your account to our new security service system.”

The links from the emails lead to a hijacked WordPress website that hosts a fake Nationwide webpage on which the victim must provide his/her details.

Of course, Nationwide isn’t performing any security upgrades, and if they would be, they surely wouldn’t be asking their customers to enter their details on an insecure website. Be sure to steer clear of such emails.
